Tennis club serves it up

16 Feb, 2010 08:48 AM
NARRE Warren South tennis players now have a place to call home with the opening of the Narre Warren South Tennis Club.

The facility has six synthetic clay tennis courts and a purpose-built pavilion complete with offices, a canteen, a multi-purpose function room, change rooms, toilets and storage facilities.

Casey Mayor Lorraine Wreford said the community had played an important role in the establishment of the club.

"Community members have been heavily involved in the development of the physical facilities as well as the formation of the club itself since the first interest group was formed around 12 months ago.

"The council has been very pleased to assist in this process and provide support to the new committee," said Cr Wreford.

'The Narre Warren South Tennis Club is a facility that the whole community can be proud of and will make a wide range of sports and leisure opportunities available to local residents."

The facility cost more than $1.3million and was funded by Casey Council and the State Government.
