LESS drinking water will be used to dampen unsealed roads in Cardinia Shire this summer.
The shire is investigating alternatives to potable water for the management of unsealed roads in the shire.
A report tabled at a council meeting last week stated that the shire was considering 16 council-owned and privately owned sites for collection of water for use on roads.
The sources are being assessed for location, quantity and quality of water and infrastructure required to extract the water.
The shire expects to have several water sources in use before the start of summer.
