PAKENHAM will be well represented at the Asia Pacific Floorball Championships in Perth this August with eight players chosen to play in the under-19 and mens teams.
A number of the players, including 19-year-olds Ben Looby, Gavin Staindl and Lachlan Waite, have made the team for the first time. Veteran player and Victorian Floorball Association president Mark Benfield returns to the team after a two-year absence. He has played in the last four of five world championships.
Pakenham's Gavin Staindl, who has played for more than 10years, is among those making his international debut. He is joined in Perth by younger brother Raymond Staindl, 18, who was one of the original floorball players when it started in Pakenham a decade ago.
This year Raymond will have his first taste of international competition as a member of the under-19 squad. He will represent Australia along with teammates Ash Johnston, Brad King and Damien Monckton. The Asia Pacific Floorball Championships are being held in Perth from August 25-29.
