HILLCREST'S Dean Schoonderwaldt, far right, jostles for position right at the finish line.
Premier distance runners from Christian schools across the state converged on Hillcrest Christian College last month for the Christian Schools Sporting Network Cross Country.
The Hillcrest grounds in Clyde North were an ideal location and setting for the competition.
The highlight was a record-breaking performance of grade 3 pupil Dalton Crawford, who smashed the best time in the nine-year-old boys' 1.5-kilometre event.
His was one of just four records on a day that featured more than 700 students from 17 schools. Hillcrest was placed third in the A division, up from fifth place in 2008.
Crawford was joined as a top-three finisher by Oliver Ray, Talesha Smith, James Cross, Jasmine Bui and Elise Corbett in their respective races.
