TRAILING by five goals in the third quarter, Berwick Netball Club stormed home to defeat Cranbourne in a thriller.
A determined Wickers outfit rallied in the final term and reduced the deficit. Some fine team play gave them a lead of three goals and they hung on for a nail-biting 41-40 win.
Bree Driscoll, Tracey Dell and Jodie Cranston were behind the inspirational win.
Berwick B-grade defeated Cranbourne 56-34 in cold, windy conditions after jumping to a match-winning lead at half-time.
Jodie Evans, Sharon McCormick and Tina Pratt were best on court for the Wickers.
Berwick C-grade lost to Cranbourne 33-36.
The under 17s started strongly but were unable to maintain their form against a fast-finishing Cranbourne, who won 28-12. Cheyenne Douglas, Emma Clarke and Melissa McCormick were among Berwick's best.
The under 15s proved too strong for Cranbourne, winning 38-10 in a team effort. Claire Maskiell and Taylor Shannon were unstoppable under the ring, while Stefani Hompot, Emily Pratt, Chaille Hurst and Rebecca Allen dominated the mid-court. Jessica Masters, Sarah Milton and Megan Dyker were solid in defence. Stefani Hompot, Tayla Shannon and Jessica Masters led the way.
The under 13s warmed themselves up in the cold early-morning air with a hot display against Cranbourne, winning 59-12. The Wickers' mid-court dominated play, and their defence kept opposition scoring opportunities to a minimum. Emily Fairbairn, Kaitlyn Taylor and Stacey Hargreaves were at the forefront of a great team effort.
