ZIPPING will be racing for a place in racing history when he contests the 122nd running of the Group 2 $351,000 weight-for-age TMB Printing Sandown Classic on Saturday.
The event was previously known as the Williamstown Cup and Sandown Cup, and Zipping will be attempting to become the first horse to win the event three times.
His trainer, John Sadler, will also be in line to become the most successful trainer in the event since it has been run at Sandown.
In 2008, Zipping became the first horse to win the race twice since it was first run at Sandown in 1965.
A win would also make Sadler the most successful trainer in the the race's history, with four winners.
Last year, Zipping ran second in the Cox Plate and this year he ran a great third.
He was to run in the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on Derby Day but was withdrawn after a barrier mishap that also caused him to miss his fourth Melbourne Cup.
"He didn't seem to take any harm from the barrier mishap but we are continuing to monitor him," Sadler said.
Another attraction on Saturday's program is the Sandown Classic Fashion on the Field competition.
