Family fun on course

23 Nov, 2009 05:10 PM
SATURDAY night's running of the 45th Decron Cranbourne Pacing Cup will be the highlight of the Choice Hotels Country Cups Carnival.

The $60,000 group 2 event is the sixth leg of the prestigious carnival and has attracted a quality field.

A bumper crowd is expected following the return of the 'monster' on course carnival entertainment, provided by the Cranbourne Harness Racing Club and Wittingslow Amusements.

The night will also feature the long-awaited return of Sundons Gift, who will run in the group 2 Majestic Son Cranbourne Trotters Cup, the lead race of an action-packed undercard to the main race. In a boost for owners and trainers, all supporting races will carry a $1500 bonus for runners who meet the bonus criteria. The joint initiative is funded by the Cranbourne Club, Harness Racing Owners Association, and the Metroplitan Harness Racing Club.

The night will also cater for the future champions of harness racing - pony trots - while free entertainment will include dodgem cars, a rock climbing wall and jumping castle. There will also be a variety of other amusements and entertainment at a price.

To further enhance the family atmosphere of the night, the first 200 children under 13 through the gates will receive a free showbag and face-painting.

Admission to Cranbourne's marquee night is $12 with children under 18 admitted free if accompanied by an adult. The first race start at 6.30pm.
