Trail bike trio return from state park

05 Oct, 2009 07:20 AM
THREE trail bike riders who went missing in the Lerderderg State Forest were safe and back at home yesterday. Two men, aged 23 and 33, and a 20-year-old woman - all from Werribee - were last seen entering the state park, near Bacchus Marsh, on Sunday at 9am.

Concerns were raised when the trio did not arrive home that night.

The woman dialled triple-0 about 3am, but the call got cut off before a location could be given and all further attempts to make contact were unsuccessful. Police said the two men were riding trail bikes when they became bogged, forcing them to leave their bikes and walk back to their four-wheel-drive.

The trio drove back to their Werribee home, arriving about 9.15am yesterday, and called police to inform they were safe.

State Emergency Service volunteers from Gisborne and Woodend met at Blackwood to assist police with a search of the state park before it was called off. Jessica Foulds
