NEXT Top Model continued her impressive Sandown Park form with an all-the-way win in her heat of the $36,000 group 2 Maidment Memorial at Sandown Park last Thursday night.
Scratchings reduced the field to four runners, and Next Top Model, a $2 favourite, took advantage of the small field to establish an early lead.
From there she was never threatened, racing to a comfortable 4.5-length win in a slick 42.16 seconds. A personal best time for the daughter of Surf Lorian.
The win took her record to an imposing four wins and two minor placings from seven starts at the Lightwood Road circuit and is likely to start a short favourite after drawing box 8 for the final.
Reigning national distance champion Jarvis Bale stormed into his 15th group race final when the Graeme Bate-trained stayer took out the second heat.
The group 2 Maidment Memorial final will be run at Sandown Park on Thursday. Sandown Park is offering free entry to its meetings this month.
