CARDINIA rider Katja Weimann has continued to show winning form in her quest for national recognition and a place in the 2012 Olympics team.
The Dewhurst horsewoman finished first in the one-star division at the 2009 Melbourne International three-day event last week after scoring well in dressage, cross-country and showjumping.
Weimann is this week's Journal Sports Star of the Week. She was also highly commended as one of six finalists in the 2009 Palmer Higgs marketing development award for her performance horse breeding program at Bimbinbie Park Stud.
Weimann was pleased with her win and the performance of her horse Pluto Mio. "It was great. He did really well."
Now that the competitive season has ended, Weimann has shifted her concentration to training hard for Olympic trials.
"My horse has an injury at the moment so he'll need to rest up for a few weeks and then we'll get training again."
A full-time rider, she takes part in events across the state and regularly rides for John and Jane Pittard of Pakenham.
The 26-year-old also trains and rides horses at her parents' property in Dewhurst.
