PAKENHAM surged into the top five of the Casey Cardinia Football League ladder with a 95-point thumping handed out to fourth-placed Keysborough on Saturday.
The Lions roared back into form and flag calculations after a horror start to the season and have well and truly shaken off their premiership hangover.
Nathan Leishout booted six goals and Daniel Fry three for the Lions. Dom Paynter, Corey Lenders and Ryan Cassidy were also instrumental in Pakenham's 22.15(147) to 7.10(52) win that sent Keysborough crashing out of the five for the first time this season.
Dean Gentle and deputy vice-captain Travis Skidmore were Keysborough's best.
Tooradin caused the upset of the round by coming from behind at half-time to defeat the highly fancied Devon Meadows.
The Panthers have recruited well this season but now find themselves outside of the top bracket, proving that a good list doesn't always transfer to good performances.
The Seagulls were more committed to win the game and overran the Panthers in the last quarter to win 10.8(68) to 8.5(53).
Matt Miller was the star for the Seagulls with five goals while Michael Hobbs booted four and Adam Splatt continued his outstanding form.
Damien Hinkley and Aaron Henneman booted two goals each for the Panthers and vice-captain Callum Ransom led by example.
Berwick was lucky to escape with a win against Rythdale Officer Cardinia, sneaking home by eight points. The Kangaroos led at three-quarter time, but the Wickers booted three goals to one in the last to win, 11.6(72) to 9.10(64).
Nathan Page kicked three goals for the Wickers in a best-on-ground performance. Brett Robinson and Grant Noonan were also solid contributors. Former Richmond forward Greg Tivendale was the best of the Kangaroos with four goals.
Traditional rivals Hampton Park and Doveton went toe to toe and it was the Redbacks who got up in a tight one, winning 6.9(45) to 5.5(35).
The Redbacks' Kevin McLean booted two goals and was the only multiple goalkicker for the match. Coach Josh Taylor led from the front.
Cranbourne is four points clear on top of the ladder after beating Narre Warren by 28 points. Justin Berry kicked eight goals and was the difference between the sides.
Three points separated the sides at half-time, but the Eagles booted 10 goals to six in the second half to win 15.16(106) to 11.12(78).
Brett Evans booted four for the Magpies.
