CASEY-South Melbourne kept its Premier Cricket finals dream alive with a 35-run win over Ringwood at Russell Lucas Oval on Saturday.
Lion-hearted paceman Jayde Herrick claimed 5-85 from 30 overs to be the matchwinner for the Swans, who are likely to lose their star bowler to Victorian duties when Sheffield Shield competition resumes this week.
Ringwood stumbled early to be 6-107 but a 72-run partnership between Ian Holland (36) and Brendan Walsh (45) helped it get within striking distance.
But Herrick grabbed the important wicket of Holland, Ash Perera took another and, despite Walsh's best efforts, the Rams were dismissed for 205.
■ Casey-South Melbourne successfully chased down Ringwood's 254 in their second XI clash at Casey Fields on Saturday. Bradey Welsh (37) and then lower order scores to Roshan Livera (44) and Robert Elston (51 not out) helped the Swans to 8-258.
It kept getting better for the Swans, whose third grade side defeated the Rams by 38 runs in another tight battle.
In the fourths Ringwood fell 28 runs short of Casey-South Melbourne 256, with Bradley Mur claiming four wickets for the Swans.
Casey-South Melbourne clashes with Dandenong Panthers at Casey Fields in a two-day fixture that begins on Saturday.
