YOUNG Berwick paceman James Wilcock played a large hand in Premier Cricket club Dandenong Panthers creating a slice of history on Saturday.
The Panthers bowled Essendon out twice, scoring an outright victory in just one day's play.
With Australian Test bowler James Pattinson in the Panthers side but unable to bowl until day 2 as he returns from a foot injury, the Bombers won the toss and batted on a Shepley Oval wicket that played more lively than it looked.
After their openers got to 19, the Bombers collapsed to the bowling of Wilcock (5-24), Justin Butterfield (2-11), Matt Willcocks (1-9) and James Nanopoulos (2-5) to be all out for 55. The Panthers were in trouble early at 2-24 before Dempsey (15) joined English import Liam Dawson (53) and the pair steered their side to first innings points.
In the Bombers' second dig the visitors again struggled, falling all out 66 in just 29.2 overs. Teenager Willcocks took 5-9.
"To have two teenagers (Wilcock and Willcocks) take 10 wickets between them shows the future is bright," Panthers captain Darren Dempsey said.
