 I'm exhausted!

I'm exhausted!

11 Jan, 2010 08:20 AM
WHO said Test match cricket was dead? Not Peter Siddle's mother, Allison, who watched Australia's come-from-behind victory over Pakistan in the second test match in Sydney.

I GOT all teary when Australia won the second Test against Pakistan! The Aussies were the underdogs right from the toss of the coin on the very first day, so to come from behind and win is pretty impressive – and I was really proud of my boy.

Fellow cricket mum Anne Haddin was texting me during that final, exciting day, saying I should've been at the SCG. Peter did such an outstanding job with the bat and although I really missed not being there, I probably would've been a basket case!

I'm extremely superstitious watching the cricket on TV - if things are going Australia's way, I don't stop whatever I'm doing. I sat on the couch with my dog Chrissy from 10am on that final day – and neither of us moved for 2½ hours!

Mike Hussey has always been one of Peter's favourite players, so I thought it was fantastic that Peter was out there with him when he made his 100.

Later, when Pakistan was batting, I'd put a load of washing on and stand in front of the TV – then I'd do another chore and come back – again the superstitions!

To me, it was really fitting that Peter took that last catch. To see him out there celebrating with the team just made me cry. Peter said it's a day he'll never forget.
