BERWICK Springs' Brett Whittingham wrote himself into the record books with a devastating knock of 194 not out against Silverton in its Dandenong District Cricket Association clash on Saturday.
Whittingham came to the crease with 34 overs remaining in their 36-over innings and ruthlessly destroyed the Silverton attack, with his team posting an imposing 2-366.
The former Merinda Park player started slowly but soon found his rhythm as he lit up Lyndale Secondary College with his destructive hitting. "It was a smallish sort of oval - he started off a little shaky but ended up pretty much caning it with fours and sixes," Berwick Springs skipper Shane Suckling said. "He had made a few 30s and a couple of 20s so it was good to see him in full flight."
Berwick Springs fields four senior teams and 12 junior sides in the DDCA.
