Young talent time brings back memories

19 Jan, 2009 10:24 AM
The days when I played for the Bendigo Braves in tournaments across Victoria are some of the most enjoyable memories I have of my youth.

By the number of entrants in this year's Australia Day tournament at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium, it seems today's youngsters are just as keen.

The tournament involves players from under-10s to under-20s in 839 teams from Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra, Tasmania, and Melbourne.

Tournament director Sandy Manhire aims to have NBL and WNBL stars in attendance during the tournament.

I'll also be there, having a look at the young talent while at the same time taking a walk down memory lane.

The Eltham Wildcats-Dandenong Rangers Junior Basketball three-day tournament starts on Friday, January 23.

Come and see the WNBL Dandenong Rangers take on their crosstown rivals Bulleen Boomers on Saturday at the Dandenong basketball stadium. Tip-off is 7.30pm.
