Bus review right on cue

24 Feb, 2008 11:00 PM
CASEY residents can now have a say on the future of bus services in the area.

The State Government is reviewing local bus services in the cities of Casey and Greater Dandenong, Public Transport Minister Lynne Kosky announced last week.

``The review will assess the effectiveness of local bus services in meeting community needs by going straight to the source,'' Ms Kosky said.

``Community feedback will be used as the basis for improvements to local bus services, which may include longer hours of operation, more frequent services or extended routes, introducing new routes or restructuring existing ones and improving linkages with connecting trains.''

Local bus operators, councils and other stakeholders will also be consulted.

Community workshops will be held on April 23 in Narre Warren and Cranbourne for Casey residents, and April 22 in Springvale for City of Greater Dandenong residents.

Call 92211952 for details.

Written submissions can be made until Friday, May 2, to Casey/Greater Dandenong Bus Service Review, PO Box 2797, Melbourne VIC 3001.
