Berwick muso Andrew Swift is excited to be touring with Aussie rock icon Shannon Noll, reports MICHAEL RANDALL.
IF you're in the vicinity of
the Hallam pub on June 15, you'll see plenty of people getting into the sweet sounds
of Berwick muso Andrew
Swift.
The 24-year-old guitarist, backed by a full band, including two guitarists, bass player, drummer and even a cellist, will hit the Hallam stage with Australian Idol megastar Shannon Noll.
There's a buzz about the pop-rocker, created by his debut four-track EP Cornered by Shadows and rave reviews of his live gigs, which have seen him support Evermore, Diesel and Noiseworks.
He says supporting country boy Noll is ``right up there''.
``The amount of people he's going to draw in is going to make it a big show.
``He's one of the bigger commercial touring artists in Australia at the moment, so obviously it will be a highlight to play in front of that many people.''
Swift says people can expect plenty of ``diversity'' at his gigs.
``It's kind of pop-rock stuff and acoustic.
``Diversity is the keyword.
``We go everything from full band, including a cello, and strip it back to acoustic (guitar) or acoustic and cello, rather than the full band.''
Born in Berwick, Swift has called Beaconsfield, Pakenham and even Paynseville home.
He says leaving his former band Race the Fray had him ``starting from scratch''.
``I had to step out of the comfort zone, as I'd been in the band for five years.''
He joked that his big goal was to ``conquer the world''.
``Basically the main goal is to get some CDs sold and have people singing along at gigs.
``Any musician's goal is to make a living by playing their own music.
``I want to tour, be on the road and see the country.''
Fresh Aussie band The Small Mercies will join Swift and Noll in a three-pronged rock attack.
Tickets are $37 and are available from Leading Edge Music, Fountain Gate and Pakenham or email andrew@andrewswift.com.au
