Youth get goals for life

24 Jan, 2012 01:00 AM
YMCA Youth Mentoring Program participants Josh and Alex meet Melbourne Victory players Jimmy Jeggo, Jean Carlos Solorzano, Isaka Cernak and Tando Velaphi at Etihad Stadium.

The soccer club is supporting the program in Casey by offering participants complimentary tickets to three Melbourne Victory matches.

The program is aimed at young 'at-risk' people between the ages of seven and 17 and uses school-based and community-based mentoring. There are 18 mentor-mentee matches in Casey.

YMCA Casey region youth mentoring specialist Cheryl Eyssens said the young people in the program would not normally get the opportunity to enjoy activities such as watching a Melbourne Victory game.
