Writing's on the wall for graffiti

20 Oct, 2008 09:59 AM
UNSIGHTLY graffiti in Pakenham's shopping district will be quickly removed as part of a clean-up campaign headed by the Pakenham Business Group.

PBG president Sue Day said the Report, Reduce, Remove campaign will help business owners.

"We will be able to remove any new incidents of graffiti very quickly, which is great because graffiti is a constant thing and we always have to be on our guard," she said.

Cardinia Council will supply free graffiti removal kits and paint vouchers at the end of a shire-wide graffiti clean-up this month. The aim is to eliminate up to 1000 reported incidences.

Cr Brett Owen, of the Cardinia Shire Graffiti Reference Group, encouraged residents to take advantage of the free kits and vouchers as soon as they came available.

"The council is also maintaining a database of tags and working effectively with local police to identify graffitists, so information provided by community is always helpful in the fight against graffiti."
