A BERWICK singer is hoping to hit the right notes to get a wildcard entry into the Australian Idol top 12.
Marijana Topalovic, 27, was one of 16 potential idols who performed last night after not progressing from semi-finals week.
Speaking before yesterday's show, Topalovic said she hoped it would go well.
"It is a bit up in the air with all the people with a second chance to get through. It has been an amazing experience and not at all like I expected but I hope it continues."
The mother-of-two said she didn't do herself justice on Tuesday night, singing It must have been love by Roxette.
"I am a bit worried at the moment, I couldn't ground myself maybe it was a sort of stage fright.
"I wasn't feeling overly nervous and the song went well in auditions so I'm not sure why it went like it did."
The former Victorian College of Arts student moved to Australia when she was 11.
Topalovic made the final 24 but said she wanted to go further. "It is fantastic to make the final 24 but I would really like to make the final 12 and stick around for a bit longer and it would be a dream to win it.
She wanted to become a singer from the age of eight after her piano teacher convinced her to take singing lessons but gave up the dream of a singing career at 17.
"I enjoy singing on stage and the nervousness has gone and with my circumstances recently changing I thought why not give it a go."
She has spent the past 12 years with a wedding band.
