PUBLIC transport, the GAIC tax and the Koo Wee Rup bypass were hot topics when state opposition leader Ted Baillieu toured Gembrook and Bass electorates last week.
Joined by Eastern region MP Edward O'Donohue and endorsed Liberal Gembrook candidate Brad Battin, Mr Baillieu met with residents at various locations across Casey and Cardinia to hear their concerns.
At an early morning meet-and-greet at Berwick railway station, Mr Baillieu promoted the opposition's election policy to have manned railway stations.
"Safety is a big issue at railway stations and our policy of two officers at every station was very well received," he said.
During his visit to Lakeside estate in Pakenham, Mr Baillieu said public transport, including upgrades to stations, was one of the biggest issues for residents.
"Public transport has been an issue every time I've been here.
"Upgrades to Pakenham railway station have been promised, promised, promised but nothing has been delivered - the feedback from people I've met is that it should have happened years ago."
Mr Baillieu said the Government's proposed GAIC tax was "flawed" and would have a devastating effect on landowners in its current form.
On the preferred route for the Koo Wee Rup bypass, Mr Baillieu said it was likely to make queues of trucks even longer.
