THOSE who pay attention to the finer details and showcase spring's fresh colours stand the best chance of winning Fashions On The Field at Victorian racecourses this season, says Country Racing Victoria fashion ambassador Sally-Anne Marshall.

In her second year in the role, she says the most important thing for racegoers to remember is to keep their outfits appropriate for the racetrack.

"It's not so much the latest fashion trends in Fashions On The Field. You can go with the colours and styles that are in, but you need to adjust them for racetracks."

And punters needn't spend big bucks on new additions to their wardrobe.

"If you've got a great dress, grab a different necklace or bag and revamp the outfit."

Sally-Anne Marshall will judge Fashions On The Field at the Yarra Valley Food and Wine Race Day on October 24 and Pakenham Oaks Day on November 5.
