EMERALD Secondary College students have proved they may be the future leaders of Cardinia Shire at the council's annual leadership program.
The 23 year 7 and 8 students covered topics such as teamwork, communications, confidence, values and public speaking during the six-week course from April to June.
Youth participation officer Linda Randall said the program was aimed at developing leadership qualities in a fun and engaging environment.
She said students showed an increased understanding of leadership and how skills could be transferred into their everyday lives.
"Teamwork has also been a strong component of the program with the young people stepping outside their comfort zone and working co-operatively with fellow students on a wide range of tasks."
Students were presented with certificates last Monday.
