State schools seek developers

25 Feb, 2008 01:37 PM
CASEY Central Secondary College will be one of four schools to be built and maintained in Casey by the private sector within the next three years.

Education Minister Bronwyn Pike last week announced expressions of interest were now open to private developers.

Cranbourne North East Primary School will also be privately built and maintained, scheduled for 2010, with Lyndhurst Primary and Cranbourne East P-12 to open in 2011.

Ms Pike said the successful consortium would design and build the schools and manage the facility, but the government would retain responsibility for all teaching services and the curriculum.

"These new arrangements will deliver modern schools," she said.
