Spotlight on intersection

27 Jul, 2009 09:53 AM
WORK began last week to install interim traffic lights at the Hampton Park intersection.

The VicRoads regional director for metro south east, Duncan Elliott, said the lights were expected to be operating within the next two weeks.

"We know the community is very concerned about this intersection, and we know we need to do something right now.

"The interim traffic lights will immediately improve safety for drivers while we work on a long-term traffic arrangement which will not only provide a safer intersection but will also cater for the increase in traffic in the future."

The long-term upgrade would involve installing permanent traffic lights and providing turning lanes, he said.
