Solar plan fires up

30 Mar, 2009 10:47 AM
BERWICK will soon have its own "solar neighbourhood".

Casey councillor Lynette Keleher said at least 68 people had signed up for the initiative, which required a minimum of 50 participants.

This followed a presentation on March 18 that was attended by about 150 people. Rezeko, Victoria's largest installer of solar panels, explained how participants could buy a one-kilowatt solar panel system at a cheaper price if a minimum of 50 households signed up for the bulk-buy scheme.

"I am thrilled to see this initiative developing into one of my personal goals as a Greens councillor for the City of Casey," Cr Keleher said.

"Time is running out to take advantage of the $8000 Federal Government rebate, which ends in June."
