A MUSICAL tribute concert for a much-admired carer will double as a fund-raiser for his beloved daughter.
A colourful roll-call of artists will be on stage next Saturday at Akoonah Park's new function rooms in Berwick for the Tony Rushton Memorial Benefit Variety Concert.
Country and western singer Ian Castles, who will perform, said artists will donate their time and talent to honour Rushton, who was killed in car accident in Swan Hill two years ago.
"We meant to hold a concert in his memory for a while but we waited until the time was right."
Mr Castles said the proceeds will go towards buying a wheelchair for Tony's beloved daughter, Simone, who was with him in the car.
Mr Castles said Rushton was a tireless community worker, and his popularity in Beaconsfield and the south-east region was reflected in the support already lent to organisers of the memorial fund.
Mr Castles said Simone, who suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy, was always with her dad.
"Simone's mobility is deteriorating so we decided any money raised should go towards purchasing an electric wheelchair for her."
Artists will include Chris Newman, Ray Moor, Dorothy Baker and poet Ed Walker and Mick Tinetti, MC.
The concert is from 7.30-11.30pm on Saturday, September 12.
Bookings: Ian Castles, 5996 5930 or 0407 351 527; or Michael on 5971 4331 or 0419 562 992.
