CALLING all "showgirls" ... and boys.
Auditions will be held next month in the search for the first Berwick Show Idol.
The brainchild of 2007 Casey Idol winner and Narre Warren resident Naomi Horsley, the competition will be held as part of the Berwick Show's entertainment program.
Entrants do not have to live in Berwick and all proceeds will be donated to The Cancer Council fund-raiser Relay For Life.
The event will be presented by Ms Horsley and Casey councillor Wayne Smith.
Cr Smith said all potential acts must audition at the Casey Council offices, Magid Drive, Narre Warren, from 6-8pm on February 6 or 3-5pm on February 7.
Cr Smith said the auditions were open to vocalists and instrumentalists. Dancers and bands cannot enter the competition, but may become eligible as the competition expands.
There are two sections: junior for under-16s, and senior for 16 and over. Competitors can only appear in one act and acts are restricted to a maximum of four performers.
All competitors must pay $10 entry at their audition and those wanting to watch auditions are asked to make a gold coin donation. The event's sponsor, Beaconsfield's Central Hotel, will award cash prizes to the first three place-getters in each section.
Showgoers can catch the competition final at the Berwick Show's entertainment stage at 5.45pm on Saturday, February 28.
Berwick Show Idol winners and invited finalists will strut their stuff at a free concert at the Central Hotel's family bistro from 9pm on Saturday, March 7.
