NARRE Warren South P-12 has become a meeting place for students and parents trying to come to terms with the deaths of two young students and one former student.
Although the college would normally be closed over the holidays, the emotional shockwaves felt by the close-knit school community prompted the school to open between noon and 3pm for most of last week.
Assistant principal Kerri Bolch said counsellors were on hand for anyone who needed them.
But many students just needed to sit quietly while they grieved the loss of Joel Brimble, Riyani Lowen and Anja Miler.
"About 100 people, mainly students, were here on one of the days," Ms Bolch said. "It's had a big impact and they are all very shocked. Our concern is getting the kids and the families through this."
