LEADING Senior Constable Alan Rice, a Casey resident, will have daughter Caley on his mind as he walks and cycles more than 350kilometres to raise money for the children's cancer centre charity My Room.

Caley, 10, was last year diagnosed with cancer and treated at the Monash Medical Centre. Leading Senior Constable Rice signed up for the challenge to give something back to the people who helped his family.

He was one of 16 Victoria Police members selected for the On the Beat Against Cancer challenge.

The teams began their journey in Wodonga on Friday and will pass through Beechworth, Mansfield, Yea and Whittlesea, finishing at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne on Friday.
