On road to relief

26 May, 2008 10:42 AM
TRAFFIC relief is on the way for motorists who use the congested Pound Road/South Gippsland Highway roundabout in Dandenong South.

The intersection will receive a much-needed $36.8million upgrade, including traffic lights, in the 2008-2009 state budget.

The upgrade would include the widening of the Pound Road Bridge over the South freeway, improvements to the freeway on and off ramps, and a new signalised intersection at Pound Road and South Gippsland Highway.

Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding said the bottleneck at the roundabout was a major source of frustration for south eastern motorists.

"For motorists this upgrade will mean less time in the car and more at home with the family,'' he said.
