New lease of life for motorsports proposal?

26 Nov, 2007 09:43 AM
A MAN'S quest for a motorsports facility in the City of Casey may not be in vain, with the council moving to deal with the issue as a "matter of priority".

Wayne Maslen, of Sommerville, said he had been trying for two years to have his planning application for a recreational motorcycle track approved.

His latest application, submitted to Casey Council in January, proposes a motorsports facility at 2615South Gippsland Highway in Tooradin.

However, council officers said it was "lacking in sufficient detail to allow an affective assessment".

Mr Maslen said he was frustrated with the wait: "While we wait, our youth are missing out on a recreational activity. They've got nowhere to go and they're riding on the footpaths and streets."

At last week's council meeting, the council resolved to deal with Mr Maslen's application as "a matter of priority". Casey and Cardinia councils will meet in February to discuss it.
