Minister makes a splash at pool opening

19 Nov, 2007 08:33 AM
THE much-anticipated new-look Pakenham Pool was enjoyed by young and old last Saturday.

Joining in the celebrations was Minister for Sport, Recreation and Youth Affairs, James Merlino, who officially opened the pool, and Cardinia councillor Bill Ronald, who has been an avid supporter of the project.

Community celebrations included free entry into the pool and fun family activities, such as an inflatable play area in the pool, a jumping castle, face painting and a family barbecue.

The refurbishment project was funded by $1 million from Cardinia Council and $333,000 from the State Government.

Works were undertaken by Peter Farley Pool Maintenance, the Woftam Group and Aquatic Consulting, and Design 79 did the design work. The pool will be managed by the YMCA.
