COMMUTERS are frustrated by long delays exiting Berwick station since traffic lights were installed on Clyde Road.
Narre Warren resident Frank Robinson said he has waited up to 20 minutes on many occasions to get through the lights. He said the problem was the green light does not stay up long enough for cars to exit..
"Only a few cars can get out - the sequence is all wrong - it's not synchronised with the level crossing,'' Mr Robinson said.
"When the barriers are down and there's no traffic coming from the Berwick end of Clyde Road [southbound] motorists still can't get out because the station lights are red.
"It [the car park] used to empty out quite quickly before the lights were put in.''
When the Journal visited the site last week the green light stayed up for about 15 seconds and the red light for about two minutes.
A Casey Council spokeswoman said it had been made aware of the issue and had referred the matter to VicRoads, which was responsible for the lights.
VicRoads did not respond to the Journal's calls before deadline.
