Koo Wee Rup bypass, pylons pressing issues

24 Nov, 2008 11:53 AM
PORT WARD

STUART Halligan says the key issues are the power line pylons through Port Ward prime farming land, the Koo Wee Rup and Lang Lang bypasses, the establishment of a debt-reduction strategy, upgrades to roads and more infrastructure funding for the ward.

Catherine Manning says more than just words are needed from councillors. "We need a visionary leader who can take us forward and get the job done. Someone independent and strong who will stand up for our community and protect our future and values."

Ray Brown says much needs to be done to improve the ward including more access to public transport and creating stronger links between the community and the central business district in Pakenham.

He also names debt reduction, cautious spending and the desperate need for a Koo Wee Rup Bypass as top priorities.

"We cannot be leaving a legacy of debt for new residents.

"There is a danger the ratepayers of now must pay for those of the future."
