PAKENHAM primary school students have helped reduce traffic congestion in Cardinia Shire while getting more active as part of the council's Streets Ahead program.
Under the program, students are encouraged to walk, ride, scoot or skate from designated Stop and Drop zones positioned about one kilometre from the school.
In Pakenham, there are eight Stop and Drop locations that service Pakenham Hills, Pakenham Springs, Pakenham Consolidated and St Patrick's Primary schools.
Council's active children's officer Kate Beveridge said parents were encouraged to drop off and pick up their children from the designated stops and accompany them if they wish.
Permanent aluminium signs have been installed at the eight zones.
