A PERMIT application for an adult sex toy and X-rated DVD business in Enterprise Avenue, Berwick, has been labelled as "completely inappropriate" by neighbouring businesses.
Objector Steven Smith, of Funtastic Gymnastics, said Sextastic's proposal to operate near church groups, a dance school, Scouts and karate school, was out of character with "a longstanding community business area".
"I don't want to see Sextastic here. I have 500 children through my door each week, the majority aged five to 10. Why should they see that there?"
Rochet Kitchens owner Barry Moss also opposes the permit application.
"I have been here for 19 years and I don't want my customers walking out my door and looking at a sex-aid shop opposite."
Casey Council planner Nick More said the permit would be treated like any other planning permit and "all objections will be considered on their merits".
Objections are due by February 6 and will be presented at an upcoming planning meeting.
Sextastic did not return the Journal's call before our deadline.
