 Funding's right up our street

Funding's right up our street

A $10,000 boost from the State Government will be used to upgrade five avenues of honour in Casey.

Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said the money would be used to install interpretive signs for the avenues of trees planted after World War I.

The memorials are in Narre Warren North, Harkaway, Berwick, Cranbourne and Tooradin. The City of Casey will fund signage for the remaining two avenues in Berwick.

The funding comes under a heritage grant program used to protect and conserve heritage sites across the state. Resident Bob Street has spent years lobbying for additional funds to improve the Narre Warren North memorial. "It's helping to keep the Anzac spirit alive. That's why I have spent a lot of time maintaining the memorial with the help of some others," he said.
