Fernlea gets helping hand

27 Apr, 2009 09:50 AM
SPIRITS at Fernlea House were lifted last week with a $2500 donation from the Belgrave Masonic Centre and associated lodges.

Helen Pike program director of the Emerald palliative care service, which is on the brink of closure due to reduced funding, said she was thrilled to receive the funds from the Masonic Centre, Belgrave Mark and Blue Dandenongs lodges.

"It is uplifting to know people out there believe in what we do."

Belgrave Masonic Centre president Ian Harrop and Dale Sayers, master of the Blue Dandenongs Lodge, praised the efforts of Mrs Pike and the volunteers.

"We are an organisation that supports what we believe needs to be done for the community".

"Fernlea is essential - it is important for residents in the hills to have this facility."
