CASEY'S gang of wild geese has claimed a new "victim".
An Endeavour Hills man says he has heard of kangaroos hitting cars but never geese - until it happened to him about three weeks ago.
The man, who doesn't want to be named, said he was driving slowly between the Casey aquatic centre and the council car park when he saw "five heads and feathers and everything heading for me".
Although he stopped, the birds were practically airborne and several crashed into the front side panel of his 18-month old Subaru, denting the car.
"I got out to see if they were injured and they waddled off quite happily," he said.
The man said he supported calls by Cr Michael Farley to have the birds moved to a new home as they had proved to be a road hazard.
"When you say you have been hit by a goose, people think you are talking about some stupid driver, not a bird," he joked.
A motion by Cr Farley at a recent council meeting for a report on whether the birds represented a threat to public safety or raised liability issues failed to win support. His call followed reports that the geese, which live beside the lake near the Casey council offices, had pecked a child and chased elderly women. Cr Farley said the latest incident showed the geese were proving to be a problem for residents.
