The mother of two from Narre Warren clocked 182kmh in her new $15,000 boat, Tickled Pink, over the quarter mile, the fastest she has travelled over water.

Her husband's boat, Viper, has a larger Chev 99bhp engine and can reach more than 130mph, so Paul was required by the rules to give Caz a running start.

Paul has been competing for three years, Caz for two. She has won back-to-back titles in the Stock Eliminator class (76-85mph) and hopes to go on with it in her larger boat in the higher class.

"Paul and I love boats and would take our girls Shelby, 9, and Cassidy, 7, to watch the Victorian Drag Boat racing. We'd sit on the bank with friends watching the action," Caz said.

"Paul took our family ski boat out one day and had a go. He had so much fun we decided to join the club and started racing. After Paul's first season he encouraged me to also have a go and it all started. I'm the only woman in the club and would love to set some records.

"One of the best things I love about racing is the kids' amazement and interest. They love sitting in the boats and having their photos taken," Caz said.

The next meeting at Patterson River is the Victorian drag boat championships on January 24.
