Councillor honoured for long service

27 Oct, 2008 10:43 AM
CASEY councillor Rob Wilson was last week given recognition for 15 years' service to local government.

He was presented with the award by Municipal Association of Victoria president Dick Gross at the inaugural Victorian Councillor Service Awards. The awards were established by the MAV to recognise the contribution of long-term councillors.

Cr Wilson is re-standing in the Four Oaks Ward in next month's elections.

Cr Gross said standing for council was a "significant commitment". "Communities need dedicated individuals willing to give their time and energy to serve in the best interests of the people."

Cr Wilson hopes to put a few more "runs" on the board to be eligible for 20 years' service award.
