Cough cases rise

27 Apr, 2009 09:49 AM
Families are encouraged to immunise children against pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, with health authorities reporting a marked increase in cases across the state.

Between January and April last year, nine people in Cardinia contracted pertussis. There have been seven reported cases so far this year.

Cardinia Shire Council's environmental health team has advised residents to check that immunisations are up to date.

The vaccine costs $36 per person.
