THE best Casey musicians will join forces this Saturday as part of the Casey Concert Band Festival.
Event organiser Max Hunter, of the Cranbourne Lions Concert Band, says the event is a way of sharing the talents of various bands with music lovers.
For the first time in the event's five year history the acclaimed Grainger Wind Symphony will perform at the night session.
"They don't normally join festivals like this, so we are extremely happy to have them coming along,'' Max says.
"We are really trying to promote youth involvement in bands and we have been rather successful.''
Max, who has performed with semi-professional bands, says he hopes the inclusive format of the event will encourage more youth to get involved.
Cranbourne Lions Concert Band player Brigitte Jambresic says it is an opportunity to see an array of talents under one roof.
"It is a lot of local bands coming together so you can play and hear each other and grow from the experience.''
The festival is on this Saturday at the Cranbourne Community Theatre, corner Brunt and Codrington Streets, Cranbourne. There are two sessions at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. Cost: adults $12; concession $8 and family $30 (two adults, unlimited children).
