Call for vigilance for shopper safety

10 Dec, 2007 07:07 AM
ANOTHER shopper who has experienced problems with trolleys at Westfield Fountain Gate has come forward in support of injured Cockatoo woman Julie Bhieb, whose story was published in the Journal last week.

The Narre Warren South mother said she feels for Julie Bhieb since reading about her plight.

Carla Mihalopoulos said she had experienced difficulties with the brakes on trolleys at the shopping centre on two occasions.

"I felt distressed when I saw the article, as the same thing had happened twice to me.

"I was lucky I didn't get hurt."

She said she never thought to check the brakes to see if they were working.

"I feel it is a communal responsibility between Westfield and the retailers to ensure all the trolleys used are regularly checked."

Mrs Bheib has since settled the incident with Coles and Westfield.
