AN HONOURABLE work ethic and great aptitude has propelled Berwick apprentice Scott Dinage, 23, to runner-up in this year's National Electrical and Communications Association Victorian apprentice awards.
The association rewards those who show outstanding academic and technical skills as apprentices working for electrical and communications contractors.
Now in his fifth year, Scott was nominated by his Transfield Services water mechanical and electrical manager John Debono.
"He's a great kid and worthy of the award. He never complains and his clients are rapt with him.''
In his role Scott provides mechanical and electrical services for Melbourne Water. He performs maintenance, repairs, installation and capital works.
"He's customer focused and everyone has a good word to say about him. He has a knack for picking up skills and applying them,'' Mr Debono said.
While Scott is nearing the completion of his dual trade apprenticeship as an electrician and instrument technician, he's looking forward to continuing his strong links with Transfield Services.
"They have been great to me and I really enjoy what I am doing,'' he said.
