BEING cast as a bimbo doesn't worry Bayles-raised 'beauty' Jacelle Kop, pictured right.
As one of the stars of Beauty and the Geek Australia, a reality television show that pits pairs of attractive women and super-brainy boys against each other, she represents the 'intellectually limited' side of the equation.
In a grab from a press release for the show, Jacelle is quoted: "I hate going out to restaurants and there's all these cutleries and stuff; I don't know what to do! It's too confusing."
Jacelle didn't recall that particular quote but told the Weekly: "I know I'm not the smartest person in the world but it's not the nicest thing being introduced to Australia like that.
"My friends know who I am, my family know who I am. I don't care what other people think about me."
The reality-TV experience has so far been "surreal" for the self-described country girl, one of several Gold Coast meter-maids auditioned for the show. Her Facebook page and phone have gone "nuts" since the first episode went to air last month.
On the show, Jacelle enjoyed the company of Theo, her 'geek' partner, though she wasn't romantically attracted to him.
She loved gleaning some of his knowledge on science, and history, "which was surprising because I hated studying in high school".
In turn, she helped the initially-awkward Theo gain confidence and learn how to shop.
"He only had one friend in primary school and high school," Jacelle said. "You couldn't count his friends on one hand. When I first met him, he couldn't look me in the eye. But he's a really confident guy now."
As much as she admired her geek co-stars' intellectual abilities, it was their honesty and integrity that impressed her the most.
"Everything is 100 per cent real with them. They don't change their personalities to impress you. It was refreshing."
