 Banner day for RSL

Banner day for RSL

27 Apr, 2009 10:11 AM
BERWICK RSL members were able to raise the Australian and New Zealand flag during Saturday's Anzac day service thanks to the installation of the old Berwick High Street flagpole last Friday afternoon.

The club needed about $2300 to reinstate the flagpole using a crane and president Les Lucas approached his ward councillors Daniel Mulino and Simon Curtis about funding the job.

The matter was raised at a council meeting last Tuesday and supported by the majority of councillors.

All councillors contributed to the funding, except Cr Karen Baxter, who said Crs Mulino and Curtis should cover the full costs since the club was in their ward.
