Action stations for centre

22 Sep, 2008 12:12 PM
A MAJOR upgrade of Pakenham's award-winning Cardinia LiFE indoor sporting venue has doubled the fun and quadrupled the action.

The council spent $4.8 million extending the aquatic and recreation centre, including adding four multi-purpose courts and modernising a number of facilities.

Sport and Recreation Minister James Merlino will officially open the extension on October 12.

Cardinia Mayor Bill Ronald said he hoped to see a big community turnout at the opening for a free program of activities and entertainment.

Cardinia LiFE has eight full-sized courts for basketball, netball, floorball, soccer, volleyball and badminton, a fully equipped health club, group fitness rooms, a creche and three heated pools.

Get set to go

YOUNG people can make the most of these school holidays with programs offered by Cardinia Shire Council from as little as $5.

Fully supervised trips include a day at the snow, indoor rock climbing, horse riding and ice-skating.

Pick-up points will be at Lang Lang, Koo Wee Rup, Nar Nar Goon, Garfield, Cockatoo, Emerald, Lakeside in Pakenham, Beaconsfield and the Pakenham Skate Park.
